The No. 7 ASU softball team played California on Friday to Sunday in its second road Pac-12 series and left with high spirits after sweeping the weekend.
The Sun Devils just seem to be getting better and better.
The power offense was on display again for ASU softball, as the Sun Devils hit three home runs to surge past California Saturday for a 10-2 run-rule victory in six innings.
ASU softball traveled to Berkley, Calif., for its series against conference competitor California and opened up hot, despite some light rain, and won the first game of the series 7-2.
It’s another weekend road trip for ASU softball for its series against Pac-12 competitor California beginning Friday in Berkley, Calif.
Nobody can predict what happens in a rivalry series, and that was no exception for ASU softball as it took on rival UA in a three-game series that not only had the highest attendance of the year, but also some of the most tense games played at Farrington Stadium.
It would have been a dream come true for ASU softball to sweep its series against rival UA, but the Sun Devils couldn’t pull out the win in extra innings and settled with a 6-5 loss.

A five-run seventh inning climaxed in another walk-off win for ASU softball.
After a four-hour battle on Saturday, ASU softball was looking for an easier outing in its second game against Stanford, and that’s just what it got with a 9-0 run-rule victory in five innings.
What a way to break in the new scoreboard.
It’s the time of year for the ASU softball team that all its practices and games have been leading to, the time to see its competitors and rivals in its own conference, and the time to have its first Pac-12 game on its home turf.
The ASU softball team may have lost its first two games of conference play, but that does not take away any of its fire as the Sun Devils continue to sharpen their skills in preparation for their first home Pac-12 series against Stanford.
The ability for the ASU softball team to rack up runs has been proven time and time again, but in its opening Pac-12 series against Oregon State, timeliness was the downfall as the Sun Devils (27-5, 1-2 Pac-12) lost two of their three games.
