Francisco's new leg

It took eight months for Francisco Javier Coronado Galindo to get a prosthesis after his right leg was amputated. Coronado Galindo, a farmer from Ciudad Constitución, Mexico, came to Phoenix in February to get the prosthesis with the help of a nonprofit organization called the Flying Samaritans. Because of the Flying Samaritans and Phoenix Orthotics & Prosthetics Labs, Coronado Galindo received the prosthesis -- a $20,000 leg -- free of charge.

Local Phoenix singer-songwriter Luna Aura is a self-proclaimed alien, who believes there is more to this world than meets the eye. At only 21, she has a profound notion of growing up, which is expressed in the lyrics of her soon-to-be-released song "Too Young to Die." "The chorus of the song has a line that says 'too old to care/too young to die'," Aura says. "From my perspective, I'm 21 and I'm too old to care about the gossip and parties, but at the same time I'm too young to let it go. It's really about being in that in between stage in life." Color Canalscape

By Vianka Villa | Multimedia Reporter On March 1st, ASU students, Arizona Forward and school communities of Brophy College Preparatory, Central High School, St. Francis Xavier and Xavier College Preparatory, showcased student art-themed projects for their vision for canal enhancements themed around shade, water, bridges and connectivity. The event took place at the Grand Canal between Central Avenue and Seventh Street. Color Canalscape is meant to engage students and the community to change the Valley’s canals. It is also formed to show how canals can be a cultural oasis.
