The Sun Devils are now 2-1 going into the Pac-12 schedule after beating the University of New Mexico Lobos Friday night. After a rough start, the Sun Devils pulled ahead in the second half, beating the Lobos 34-10.
Scottsdale's Center for the Performing Arts hosted the Walk to End Lupus Now on Saturday. Scottsdale was one of 60 countries across the U.S. that hosted the walk, which raises money for lupus research. 1.5 million people in the United States are affected by Lupus, an autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body. Victims, survivors, friends, and families gathered to not only raise money for a cure but to raise awareness.
ASU's Sun Devil Triathlon club participated in the ninth annual Life Time Tri Tempe triathlon Sunday. This year's race saw many new members take on the challenge. The club members have varying degrees of experience, including those whose first triathlon was this one, and others who have completed many.
ASU kicked off its celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with an open reception at Changemaker Central on the West Campus Tuesday afternoon. The month runs from Sept 15 - Oct 15, and will include food, music, lectures and more in an effort to increase awareness and cultural appreciation.
Sumayyah Dawud, a transgender Muslim woman and activist, is challenging the Islamic Community Center of Tempe for her right to pray in the women's prayer section at the mosque. The challenge exists because the ICC believes in biological gender specific spaces, and will only allow her to have physical contact with women when she provides documentation proving she has undergone a physical transition.
ASU Career Services presented Career Couture, a professional fashion showcase, Friday afternoon. The event showed students the importance of professional dress when making a first impression in interviews, then gave them the opportunity to demonstrate their newly developed fashion skills.
The Sun Devil's first home game against Cal Poly Saturday also served as the debut of the new student section at Sun Devil Stadium, known as the "Double Inferno." Students are now on opposite sides of the field behind both end zones, rather than in the lower and upper bowls along one length of the stadium. The game also came with a new ticketing system, designed to make camping at "Camp Fargo" a more fair experience for students.

Mesa Arts Center celebrated its tenth season of entertainment with the Season Kickoff Festival in Mesa Friday night. The free family-friendly event included live music, dance and art exhibitions in the Mesa Contemporary Art Center, and combined awareness with entertainment for a vibrant, colorful night.
Over 600 Marines flooded Downtown Phoenix in celebration of Marine Week Sept. 10 - 13, filling Civic Space Park on the Downtown Phoenix Campus. The event attracted hundreds of people with activities including military dog demonstrations, band performances and equipment showcases.

ASU Undergraduate Student Government Downtown has brought back the Sun Devil Express, this time expanding the times of the eight locations serviced from 6:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. and adding a Sunday route for groceries.
The Tempe Exchange club hosted its 12th annual Healing Field Friday, at Mill Avenue and Salado Parkway. The field of flags honors the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks and the soldiers who have lost their lives in the war on terror. Over 3,000 flags form a "living graveyard," giving visitors the opportunity to connect with the victims and have a healing experience.
ASU Downtown campus students enjoyed the Fall Welcome concert at Civic Space Park to kick off the beginning of the 2015 school year. The concert featured five local bands including I AM JONES.
ASU students looking to explore their funny side find on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, through a creative outlet known as Barren Mind, a student organization and improvisation team based on the Tempe campus. The club gives students the opportunity to practice improvisation, humor and stage presence through weekly performances at the Memorial Union.
