Transgender Muslim woman fights for right to pray at Tempe mosque

Sumayyah Dawud, a transgender Muslim woman and activist, is challenging the Islamic Community Center of Tempe for her right to pray in the women's prayer section at the mosque. The challenge exists because the ICC believesĀ in biological gender specific spaces, and will only allow her to have physical contact with women when she provides documentation proving she has undergone a physical transition.
