ASU students took part in the university's annual Whitewash the "A" event on Saturday, Aug. 20. Every year students climb Hayden Butte, better known as "A" Mountain, to add a fresh coat of white paint to the "A" that rests on the hillside. It's an event that's happened every fall since the 1930s, making it one of the university's longest-standing traditions. The "A" will be repainted gold before the first football game.
