Thrifting is the perfect way to get cheap clothes that can still provide unique fashion. All across campus, students enjoy shopping the aisles of thrift shops. Here are the top five places near the Tempe campus that might serve as the next go-to spot for clothes and more.
Goodwill: 1290 N. Scottsdale Road
Located on Scottsdale Road, this Goodwill is a great place to find some old jackets and potential Halloween costumes. With a wide selection of men's and women's clothing, this Goodwill is the perfect spot for your next clothing adventure. It's also a short 10-minute drive from campus, making it convenient and accessible.
Goodwill: 1546 E. Southern Ave.
This Goodwill is another convenient and close location to campus. There aren't just clothes you can thrift here, but also apartment essentials. The wide selection of apartment decorations, utensils and cookware you can find here is stunning. Clothes here are also a great find, including old cotton t-shirts that come in all shapes and sizes.
Plato's Closet: 1312 N. Scottsdale Road
Not that far from the first Goodwill, this Plato's Closet is another great place to find older clothes. While Plato’s is a bit more expensive than Goodwill, this location still has discounts all the time. It has a great selection of coats and jackets, so when it gets a bit chillier in Arizona, feel free to shop here for your next layer.
University Street Market (on campus)
Can't drive? Not a problem. University Street Market visits the SDFC fields, as well as the other Phoenix campuses, on select days which are announced on their Instagram page @universitystreetmarket. They boast a great selection of true vintage clothes. Their $5 bin also includes nice oversized clothes that always complement a good fit. If you need a quick stop and shop before class, check this out!
ASU Surplus: 734 W. Alameda Drive
While not really a clothing-centered thrift store, the ASU Surplus Store has great donations to go through when trying to find something cheap. Shelves are stocked with useful items, including things for a new apartment or even school supplies. It's important to remember that thrifting is not just for clothes but for your needs as well.
