ASU women's golf ties for fourth in Silverado Showdown

No. 8 ASU women's golf tied for fourth place at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, California, the final tournament of the regular season.

ASU finished the tournament with 22 strokes over par, and each golfer individually finished at or over par. USC, the winner of the tournament, finished two strokes under par.

The Sun Devils' scores progressively worsened through each round of the tournament. After finishing four strokes over par in the first round, ASU finished the second round eight strokes over par and the third round at 10 strokes over par.

Fifth-year senior Olivia Mehaffey and sophomore Linn Grant did not compete in the tournament after spending last week playing in the 2021 Augusta National Women's Amateur.

In their absence, junior Alessandra Fanali stepped up for the Sun Devils by finishing at even par, tying for fifth place.

Junior Alexandra Forsterling ended the tournament at two strokes over par and tied for eighth place, joining Fanali as the only other Sun Devil who finished in the top 10 individually.

Freshman Ashley Menne tied for 31st at 11 strokes over par, and sophomore Amanda Linner tied for 38th at 12 strokes over par. Freshman Breyana Matthews ended the tournament at 23 strokes over par, tying for 63rd place.

With the regular season now over, ASU will compete next in the Pac-12 Championships starting on April 23 in Stanford, California.
