ASU track and field secured nine top-three finishes and eight individual Sun Devils set personal records in multiple events at the Texas Tech Invitational on Jan. 29 and 30 in Lubbock, Texas.
Day one
Senior Katie Eidem began the meet for the Sun Devils by scoring 3,696 points in the women's pentathlon, earning eighth place in the event and setting a new personal record.
Junior Sydnee Larkin and sophomore Christina Warren scored jumps of 12.89 meters and 11.95 meters, respectively, in the women's triple jump, earning fifth and 12th place in the event. Larkin broke her own personal record in the event.
In the women's pole vault, junior Hayley Rayburn secured fourth place for ASU by clearing the 4.16-meter height but failing to clear the 4.26-meter height. Rayburn added over a foot to her personal record in the pole vault.
Senior Tommi Hintnaus and sophomore Sevanna Hanson both cleared the 4.01-meter height but missed the 4.16-meter height, earning seventh and ninth place, respectively, in the women's pole vault.
Sophomore Keira Christie-Galloway secured third place for the Sun Devils in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.38 seconds after qualifying earlier in the day with a time of 8.32 seconds.
In the men's 60-meter hurdles, freshman Jamar Marshall Jr. and senior Kentre Patterson both qualified for the finals with times of 7.91 seconds and 8.01 seconds, respectively.
The pair secured second and third place in the finals, with Marshall Jr. finishing in 7.83 seconds and Patterson in 7.84 seconds. Marshall Jr. broke his personal record in the event in only the second match of his collegiate career.
Junior Dubem Nwachukwu secured second place in the men's 400 meters, finishing with a time of 46.4 seconds and setting a new personal best in the event.
The Sun Devils finished the first day of the invitational with four top-three finishes.
Day two
To begin the second day of the invitational, graduate student Jorinde van Klinken earned second place in the women's shot put by throwing a distance of 17.02 meters, losing to UA junior Samantha Noennig, who threw a distance of 17.30 meters.
Redshirt junior Turner Washington earned first place in the men's shot put, throwing for a distance of 20.94 meters, which set a new personal record.
Sophomore Ma'Kayla Dickerson placed fifth in the women's 600-yard dash with a time of 1:26.06, while sophomore Arius Williams placed eighth with a time of 1:28.58.
In the men's 600-yard dash, Nwachukwu placed third, sophomore Garrett Shedrick placed sixth and Marshall Jr. placed 10th.
Sophomore Lena Lebrun earned first place in the women's mile with a time of 4:58.15. Sophomore Caitlin Rose placed fifth in the event, finishing with a time of 5:11.09.
In the men's mile, senior Fearghal Curtin placed third with a time of 4:12.95 in the event.
Redshirt junior Cole Riddle earned fourth place in the men's pole vault, clearing heights of 5.2 and 5.3 meters but failing to clear the 5.4-meter height.
ASU will compete next at GCU on Feb. 3 in Phoenix.
