ASU redshirt junior, defensive back Jack Jones (21), shows frustration about the previous play during ASU's 21-3 lose versus Utah on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah.

ASU football, ranked at No. 24, was overwhelmed by UCLA's running attack in a 42-32 loss in Pasadena Saturday.

The Sun Devils's defense could not stop UCLA redshirt senior running back Joshua Kelley — who rushed for 164 yards and four touchdowns.

Despite the 10-point loss, ASU found itself trailing 42-10 early in the fourth quarter.

Before a late surge, ASU's offense struggled to build momentum. It generated 18 total first downs for the game compared to UCLA's 27.

Freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels completed 20 of 29 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 67 yards and a score on the ground.

Two of Daniels' touchdown throws were hauled in by redshirt junior wide receiver Frank Darby, who posted 110 receiving yards, a season-high.

However, junior running back Eno Benjamin struggled to find running lanes, rushing for only 46 yards on 13 carries.

A week after totaling 12 penalties against Utah, ASU committed nine penalties for 72 yards, which took away multiple scoring opportunities.

The 42 points were the most the Sun Devils have given up in a game this season.

Following next week's bye, ASU will face USC (5-3, 4-1 Pac-12) in Tempe on Saturday Nov. 9.
