The ASU volleyball team lost to Oregon State 3-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Beaver victory was the first Pac-12 win for OSU this season, and it was ASU's sixth straight loss.

ASU is now 13-11 overall, and 4-8 in conference play.

"Just another poorly played match by us," coach Sanja Tomasevic said. "Really good job by Oregon State. They need that win; we all know how important that was for us last year."

ASU started the match strong in the first set with a hitting percentage of .429. The Sun Devils took the first set 25-18.

"I think we came out strong and confident cause we knew what we had to do, but for some reason we hesitate," senior middle blocker Carmen Unzue said. "I think we have too many thoughts in our mind. We want to see the future and don’t focus in the present."

Unzue led the Sun Devils with 12 kills, four blocks and a hitting percentage of .308 for the match.

"I was confident throughout the whole match," Unzue said. "I was open to changes. I was open to refocus, and I think that is what's lacking in our team. If we try something and it doesn't work, try something else...There's no rush."

ASU's momentum in the first set did not carry over to the next set. The Beavers took the second set 25-21.

In the third set, OSU had a hitting percentage of .233 and took the lead in the match by picking up another 25-21 set victory.

ASU came to the fourth set strong and held a lead over OSU, but the Beavers fought back and eventually wrapped things up with a 25-22 win to seal the match.

Up next, the Sun Devils are headed to Washington to take on the Huskies on Friday Nov. 2 at 7:00pm MST.
