The State Press reporter Felipe Corral Jr. breaks down the ASU men's basketball team's win against California. Corral talks about Romello White's double-double performance, Kimani Lawrence's impact to the team and Shannon Evans' bounce back game.

Felipe Corral Jr. - Reporter:

ASU men’s basketball defeated California on Thursday night, 84-53, behind a double-double performance from forward Romello White who finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds and was his third double-double in conference play. When asked whats been his key to improving his low post play, he said he has been working on it in practice and he credited his coaching staff and fellow guards.

Freshman forward Kimani Lawrence finished with nine points, four blocks and two steals. ASU head coach Bobby Hurley said Kimani’s ability to influence many areas of the game is something that this team desperately needs.

After a nine point performance on the road against Oregon State, senior guard Shannon Evans II finished the night with a team-high 14 points on 6-9 shooting. Performances like tonight would definitely help ASU advance in the post season.

Lastly, ASU’s defense definitely stepped up tonight forcing California to shoot 0-18 from behind the arc.

ASU will conclude its season on Saturday against Stanford with tip off at 12:30, here at Wells Fargo Arena.
