The desert just got much cooler.
Just shy of nine months after the ASU men's hockey program announced its promotion from an ACHA Division I club team to NCAA Division I, it was announced via Twitter Sunday evening that a women's club team would be joining the ACHA's top level, beginning in Fall 2016.

The team will play its home games at Oceanside Ice Arena and will be coached by Arizona native Lindsey Ellis, who played club hockey at Miami (Ohio) for four years and was team captain for two seasons.
Ellis won a 2014 national title on the same ice that the men's team did in Newark, Delaware a few days earlier.
Joining Ellis on staff is Kaley Gibson, and Arizona native who grew up playing hockey in the Valley and played four years at St. Norbert (DIII). Gibson is the head goaltending coach for the Lady Coyotes and has coached at USA Hockey development camps.
