Pop culture mischief: Bieber performs with Skrillex, Jon Hamm leaves rehab and more

It can be hard to keep up with everything going on in pop culture. Join reporter Zackary Moran-Norris each week for a round-up of some of the largest stories of the week so your references can always stay relevant.

Justin Bieber performs with Skrillex and Diplo in Miami

Rumors floated around that a surprise guest would appear on stage during Jack U’s set at Ultra Music Festival in Miami over the weekend — and they came to fruition. Justin Bieber jumped on the main stage before Skrillex and Diplo transitioned into their recent hit “Where Are U Now," where Bieber began to lip-sync the vocals. After the song ended and the sea of shocked faces slightly dissipated, Bieber left the stage to watch the bursting fireworks with the crowd. Even after guest appearances from musicians like Diddy and DJ Snake, the Canadian pop star still managed to steal the show

Jon Hamm completes rehab for alcoholism

Tippling glasses of liquor is almost like a religious practice for Jon Hamm’s character, Donald Draper, in the critically acclaimed show “Mad Men.” After quietly completing a rehab stint for alcohol abuse earlier this week, it appears as though the line between Hamm and his portrayed character may be have become somewhat blurry along the way. With the final season of “Mad Men” airing this spring, the Emmy award-winning actor chose to keep his month long stay in a rehabilitation center concealed from the public eye. Hamm has reportedly been doing very well upon his return and has since asked for “privacy and sensitivity” on the matter.

“Home” tops weekend box office

The family-friendly film “Home” exceeded all expectations this weekend by raking in $54 million in its box office debut. DreamWorks Animation released the animated film with the projection that it would not exceed $30 million, partly due to recent misfires such as “Turbo” and “Mr. Peabody and Sherman.” The underdog film easily surpassed Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart’s comedy, “Get Hard,” which pulled in roughly $35 million over the weekend. The voice cast stars Rihanna who voices Tip, an adventurous little girl who befriends an outcast alien, voiced by The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons.

“The Walking Dead” season finale

Lots of spoilers coming your way. You have been warned.

The season finale of the fifth season of AMC's hit show, “The Walking Dead,” left viewers on the edge of their seat upon airing Sunday night. From Nicholas leading Glenn into the woods and shooting him to Morgan returning to Alexandria to fend off a dangerous group called the Wolves, the 90-minute finale successfully packed many shocking moments into the episode. The final image on the screen read “Wolves not far,” which strongly hints at a looming conflict with Alexandria in the next season.
