Campaigning for student government positions will be coming to a close in the next week with elections, which take place from March 31 to April 1.

Voting will take place on each campus, or students can vote online at asu.edu/votenow. Students will vote for executive candidates, including President, Vice President of Policy and Vice President of Services, on the campus that houses their major.

Elections Commissioner Maggie LaPoint said students who participate in the voting process will help out their university as well as themselves.

“As a university, campus engagement drives our campus community,” LaPoint said in an email. “Universities with active student governments and student bodies are more productive, and more conducive environments for growth and learning.”

By voting, students will be able to support the initiatives and issues they feel strongly about, she said.

“On a personal level, voting in student government elections is a step towards investing oneself in one's community, and taking a greater stake in one's education,” LaPoint said. “College is a time to develop the habits we will continue throughout our lives, and making a commitment to engage with and invest in the communities around us is essential to personal growth.”

Students looking to vote in the upcoming election should:

  • Research the candidates at asuelections.com and on their campaign websites if applicable
  • From March 31 to April 1, either visit a polling station on campus or log-on to asu.edu/votenow
  • Undergraduates: Select your desired Executive ticket and senators and Graduates: Selected your desired Executives and assembly members
  • Vote!

Tempe, West and Downtown students will also vote in the campus-specific senate races for their college. Polytechnic students will vote from a body of at-large senate candidates.

Graduate students will vote for executive candidates— President, Vice President for Internal Affairs, Vice President for External Affairs and Vice President for Professional Development — as well as assembly members for their college and at-large assembly members.
