ASU senior diver Hailey Casper placed second in the championship round of the women's 3-meter dive at the National Canadian Diving Championships in Scarborough, Ontario, this weekend.

After a slow start in the preliminary round where she only mustered a score of 246.00 for her five dives, putting her in 10th place, Casper took full advantage of her spot in the championship round.

She scored a 309.30 cumulative score over five dives, which was good enough for second place out of all finalists in the championship round.

Casper, who is originally from Alberta, Canada, made good use of her trip back home as she continued her success in the 3-meter dive.

She won a bronze medal in the 3-meter dive at the 2014 Winter National Canadian Diving Championships before finishing second in the event at last year's NCAA Zone E Diving Championships and 14th in the NCAA Championships, where she also placed 12th in the 1-meter dive.

She missed ASU swim and dive's last dual meet of the season for good reason, though, as her National Championship was of much importance.

The women's 3-meter in Canada this weekend was one of the events scheduled this year to determine the divers Canada will send to the Pan Am Games, as well as the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Casper will now be focused on ASU's trip to the Pac-12 Championships, as well as the upcoming NCAA Zone E Diving Championships and the NCAA Championships.
