At the beginning of each year, everyone holds high hopes for a better year than the last for everything from personal goals to film releases. As far as movies go, the 2015 lineup has a lot of potential. These movies will have you ditching your New Year gym resolutions and heading straight for theaters.
"American Sniper"
This film was released by independent theaters in late December but hits big screens Jan. 16. Actor Bradley Cooper portrays Marine SEAL Chris Kyle, who struggles between fulfilling his role as a father and his service in the marines. With Kyle's nickname being "Legend," Cooper has a lot to live up to with his performance. This film is based on a true story and is a must-see for anyone who enjoys intense action and drama.
"Fifty Shades of Grey"
You've heard the hype over this one for a few years now. Your friends have all joked about it and you have even considered reading the book. Just in time for Valentine's Day, the movie adaptation of infamous novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" will be released Feb. 13. The cast may be lesser-known, but with all the hype the book has caused, it may be worth a ticket.
"Cinderella"
The tail end of 2014 was all about "Into the the Woods," a fairy tale with a dark twist that wasn't exactly fun for the whole family. However, the highly anticipated remake of this Disney classic is perfect for all ages. Check out actress Lily James in her breakout role as Ella when the movie opens on March 13. Although this movie is not Disney's traditional animation, the company has promised to keep the storyline true to the classic but amplify the beauty of the storytelling.
"The Avengers: Age of Ultron"
This is a great movie for anyone who enjoys action or is a fan of superheroes. This movie seems to follow the typical action story format, but is worth a trip to the theater regardless. In this film, the Avengers team up once again to defeat the menacing robot Ultron, taking the team on a trip across the globe. Check out the Avengers when it hits theaters May 1.
"Pitch Perfect 2"
This sequel debuts May 15 and stars actresses Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson reprising their roles as Beca and Fat Amy, now in their senior year of college. This movie is definitely geared for all the musical lovers out there, but also has a decent amount of slapstick comedy. Sure, this college campus may seem unrealistic to most students, but the film is almost guaranteed to provide great laughs to all.
