Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:
- A 43-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Dec. 26 on the 2100 block of East Broadway Road on suspicion of dangerous drug, narcotic drug and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.The man was driving a car that was stopped by officers, police reported. Officers found needles used to do drugs in an iPhone box and three glass pipes in the man’s backpack, according to the report.
Officers also found a usable amount of heroin in the man’s pocket, police reported.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges.
- A 20-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Dec. 23 on the 1500 block of West Carter Road on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, marijuana possession, drug paraphernalia possession, operating vehicle in violation of restriction and two counts of driving under the influence, according to a police report.Officers originally contacted the man for speeding, making an improper right turn and running a red light, police reported.
The man appeared to be impaired and the car smelled strongly of marijuana, according to the report.
The man admitted he had smoked marijuana several hours before being stopped, and he also said he had no weapons in the car, police reported.
During a search of the car, officers found a loaded .380 handgun on the passenger’s seat, according to the report. Officers also found a bucket of marijuana, scale and several bags of marijuana in the compartment where the spare tire is stored, police reported.
The man said he knew the marijuana was in the car because he could smell it, but it was his brother's, according to the report. He also said the gun was his father’s, police reported.
The man said he was in a hurry to get home, which is why he had been speeding and ran a red light, according to the report.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
