One last bout of mysticism: Horoscopes for the end of 2014

Can you feel it in the air? There’s an electric buzzing — of anxiety, frustration, joy, confusion and raving madness — in the clouds. Your faithful guide to the stars thinks a lot of this has to do with all the fun goodies that come along with the end of the semester and the year. It’s been a crazy town banana pants of a year, let me tell you. After a semester of interpreting tea leaves, star charts, lectures on modernist theory and planetary movements, your guide has gone a little of the rails. Perhaps he began speaking to a log in his backyard. Perhaps that log started speaking back to him. Perhaps the log possesses an unearthly wisdom your guide utilized for his last set of horoscopes.

While you’re busy chipping at your formidable to-do list, there’s something happening under the piles of paper and overdue library books crowding your desk. No, the desk isn’t glowing — although if you spend enough time staring at your computer screen, the whole room is likely to start glowing (and spinning, dissolving, etc.). What’s quietly brewing is a new chapter. This new chapter is like a rare loose-leaf green tea; you can’t enjoy it until it’s steeped for just the right amount of time. When it’s ready for you, boy, will it be the most delicious tea you’ve ever had. Expect it to arrive sometime in the next three weeks. As for your to-do list, the stars will bless you with enough gusto to power through all the muck of final exams.

The Log, while perhaps a product of my raving imagination, has a unique bond with the stars. It still keeps tabs on planetary movements and adjusts its wisdom accordingly. As a result, The Log is just thrilled about the Dec. 6 full moon's wondrous effects on you. It will give you the insight to handle difficult, long-term problems that might otherwise be downright impossible to solve. Perhaps you’ll have a last-minute epiphany regarding a term paper on post-structuralism or you’ll find a way to cast the bad vibes out of your relationship with a close friend, roommate and/or inanimate object. Solutions and answers will line your path until the new moon on Dec. 21. When that comes around, throw on your dancing shoes and party until the sun rises. Even when it does, you’ll find yourself equipped with even more forward momentum to blast into the New Year. Dance on into 2015, dear Taurus, dance on.

horoscopes-gemini

Love may not be on your mind on or around the full moon on Dec. 6, but you'll be caught up in untangling/re-tangling an intimate relationship — or several, actually. This time, however, you know who and what you want. How’s that for unlikely? Trust The Log’s wisdom, Gemini. Keep up your trademark charm, but stand your ground when working through the mist of love surrounding you. When the new moon rolls around on Dec. 21, expect to confront (and overcome) a challenge that’s kept ya down for a long time. The Log has one more twist of fate to inform you of: An unexpected connection will happen in the final moments of New Year’s Eve.

horoscopes-cancer

Open yourself up to surprises around the full moon on Dec. 6. Don’t get yourself worked into a tizzy, anxious Cancer, because The Log sees happy surprises in your immediate future. No one’s failing any chemistry finals over here! Expect the bursts of confetti and good vibes to come from your social circle. Rad folks surround you, if you haven’t noticed. When the new moon of Dec. 21 darkens the sky, your love life will be lighting up! The Log is unclear about whether this means a fresh start with an old flame or the kindling of an entirely new romance. A touch of uncertainty never hurt anyone, though — right?

horoscopes-leo

I know, I know, the stars have been throwing out “non-stop pleasure cruise” as the sole descriptor of your life for the past few weeks. Maybe that hasn’t been the case; maybe it has. Regardless, after a long chat with The Log, it gave me the same forecast for the days surrounding the full moon on Dec. 6. Don’t be surprised if the year’s biggest, wildest parties happen on or around then. This may very well set the vibe for a month of unwieldy (but joyous) celebration, so keep your party dress handy. As you slouch towards the new moon on Dec. 21, however, allow some quiet time to gather yourself. Take a few moments (or an hour or a week) to appreciate the “good things” that often get lost in all the flashing lights and confetti raining down from the heavens. This über powerful new moon will usher in a distinct tonal shift in your life. 2015 is going to be a good year for you, fiery Leo. In the mean time, take this token of advice: Party hardy, but don’t lose your head in the process. You’ll need it.

horoscopes-virgo

Things are getting intense. This seems like an obvious statement to make given that we’re in the final week of classes and finals loom over us, but The Log is attuned to the ebbs and flows of the ASU academic calendar. What The Log foresees is an increasing intensity in your social life as we near the full moon on Dec. 6. Full moons have a mysterious way of pumping untold amounts of energy into everyone, so expect for passions to run high in the coming days. Don’t take anything too seriously; float like a duck on these currents of energy and don’t ruffle your feathers unless absolutely necessary.

horoscopes-libra

Misadventures and misunderstandings will reign on and around the full moon on Dec. 6, Libra. Don’t worry yourself silly, though; these will be quite harmless, and they won’t decrease your ability to trudge through the muck of finals. Once you are released into the freedom land of winter break, The Log has an inkling that you will be overcome with an intense desire to make amends to someone you wronged in the past. Follow your heart on this one, kid. The relationship you repair now will become important in the early days of 2015. In other news, The Log senses that an intense nostalgia will visit you in the final days of 2014. Use this to your advantage. Pour over the past with gratitude and critical thinking goggles. Make note of the lessons you learned, and use them to make 2015 a rousing good time.

horoscopes-scorpio

Your head is probably spinning right now, dizzy Scorpio, and it doesn’t seem as though that’s going to let up anytime soon. There are a lot of people seeking your opinion and advice on every topic under the sun (note: It’s because you give good advice). Don’t let them swamp your ship. As you sail toward the new moon on Dec. 21, be selective with whom you spend time. Pick a few folks you click with and have a groovy time. The Log is quite adamant that you follow the adage of “quality over quantity” as 2014 comes to a close. You give great advice, but The Log gives perfect advice.

horoscopes-sagittarius

Some festive cheer is headed your way on Dec. 6, courtesy of a shining full moon. The Log foresees a generous helping of groovy vibes, good conversation and (drum roll, please) the potential for a new romance! Don’t be surprised if you fall quickly under a new character's spell in your life. These good vibes will sweep you up until year’s end, so enjoy the ride. With the whirlwind of falling confetti, final term papers and romances, it might be easy to forget to really appreciate things. The Log suggests you appreciate them; it’ll make for a good start to 2015 if you end on a note of gratitude.

horoscopes-carpicorn

The Log senses that you are craving some alone time right now to reflect on the past year. Unfortunately, the realization of that desire may have to wait until after the full moon on Dec. 6. There are just too many folks who need the warmth of your aura right now, dear Capricorn. Don’t leave them out in the cold. When the new moon rolls around on Dec. 21, you’ll have plenty of time to rejuvenate your inner turbines. The new moon will act as a personal New Year for you. The Log has one more tidbit to leave you with: with the coming new moon, expect yourself to enter to a new room where a mystery will finally be solved and long-standing tension will be resolved. Who knew inanimate objects could be so poetic?

horoscopes-aquarius

The full moon on Dec. 6 belongs to the restless Gemini, so don’t be surprised when consistency is a difficult thing to maintain. This isn’t a bad thing, Aquarius. Embrace these disparate currents and float atop the waves like the winged and waterproof being you are. While all these waves are crashing about, you may have to temporarily shelve a project you’d hoped to finish before the end of the year. When the new moon rolls around on Dec. 21, however, you’ll find the sparkle-powered momentum you need to finish the project in the nick of time. Speaking of the year’s end, The Log is just giddy about all the good vibes awaiting you in 2015. In the past, everything you’ve achieved has been a long and painful process, but expect for things to come to fruition with ease next year.

horoscopes-pisces

Things are bound to get hectic in the next few days, Pisces, but don’t let yourself be rushed. Yes, your to-do list is probably growing by the second, but when you switch into hyper-overdrive mode, the quality of your work tends to suffer. Don’t attempt to travel at the speed of light. You’ll make it to the other side of all your final projects and tests without a scratch, but only if you don’t lose your attention to detail. The Log suggests you disperse a few dance breaks throughout the hard work — you know, to maintain sanity. When Dec. 21 rolls around with a new moon, expect to embark on a pleasure cruise of a weekend. Rad folks (strangers, new friends, old friends, etc.) will surround you, and, oh, will the vibes be good.
