Raw Image at Studio 14 is a new salon located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale that will begin offering a 20 percent discount for ASU students during October.

Sean Hunter and Lori Dierinzo, the salon's cofounders, combined their experience to create a well-rounded practice.

Hunter, 28, has been a professional hairstylist for the past five years and offers services including haircuts, hair coloring, hair treatments, trims, blowouts and highlighting.

His partner, 32-year-old Dierinzo, is a certified arch expert and aesthetician of seven years. Dierinzo specializes in body waxing, brow shaping and tinting.

A great deal of the team's clientele are ASU students and alumni.

“A huge amount of our clients come from ASU,” said Dierinzo. "We want to offer a discount for ASU students, because we understand that college is expensive, and we want to give them a break for going to school."

Bethany Wills, an ASU alumna who now works in graduate admissions at the University, has been a loyal client of both Hunter and Dierinzo for more than two years.

"I've been going to Sean and Lori for years now, and I honestly wouldn't want to go to anyone else," said Wills. "I've never been more happy with a hairstylist than I am with Sean. Whenever I go to see him, it feels like we're just two old friends catching up."

Willis has also been going to Dierinzo for facial waxing for more than two years.

"When I heard that Sean and Lori were opening a salon together I was really happy," Wills said. "It's like having my two favorite people in the same place. I always feel at home with them."

Hunter and Dierinzo, originally from Tucson, began their practice roughly eight months ago, after what may seem like an unlikely chain of events.

The duo met while attending beauty school at Empire Beauty in Tucson. However, they parted ways once they finished their schooling.

Their paths crossed once again when they both found work at the same Ulta Beauty merchandiser in Tucson.

By chance, the two transferred to the same Ulta Beauty at Tempe Marketplace a short while later.

After years of working together and sharing the same clients, Dierinzo and Hunter decided they were ready to take a risk and venture out on their own.

"We felt like it was time to branch out and create something that's just ours," Dierinzo said. "It's like it was meant to be."

Dierinzo and Hunter found a stylish studio in Old Town Scottsdale and decided they were ready to take the leap and make it their own.

"We got in here and were able to customize the studio the way we wanted it," Hunter said. "It's cute — we were able to put our own sense of style into it, which was something that was new and exciting for us."

Hunter and Dierinzo were not alone in the move from Tempe to Scottsdale and brought many devoted clients with them. Many of their clients are ASU students who were willing to travel a little farther to receive the same services they liked.

Ashley Cummings, a 22-year-old ASU alumna, has been going to Dierinzo for waxing services for roughly three years.

"Old Town is still pretty close to ASU, so I was happy to make the drive,” Cummings said. "The pricing is great too, and Lori just has this way about her that makes you feel like you've known her for a long time."

This duo is continuing to build their practice, expand their clientele and share their passion for style with the neighboring communities.

"We love what we do, and we are so excited to be able to share it with our clients —especially ASU students," Dierinzo said.
