It’s been a month since the St. Louis Blues acquired goalie Ryan Miller.
Since then, the Blues have gone 9-3-1 with Miller in net, while he has allowed only 2.12 goals per game and blocked shots at a .912 clip.
I remember sitting and talking with some friends a week before the Miller trade, and I picked the Blues to win the Stanley Cup. It wasn’t a trendy pick at the time, but it also wasn’t a crazy pick.
They were a good team, but the Anaheim Ducks and the Chicago Blackhawks still looked like the class of the Western Conference.
Now, it’s the Blues’ conference to lose. They have a hold on the top seed by seven points with eight games to play.
The Blues were a good team. Alexander Steen, David Backes and T.J. Oshie are lethal up front. Alex Pietrangelo, Kevin Shattenkirk and Jay Bouwmeester are as good as it gets on the blue line.
Jaroslav Halak was a good goalie. But there were questions if he was good enough to help St. Louis drink form Lord Stanley’s Cup for the first time.
Then the Blues removed all doubt. They got Ryan Miller.
And now, they will win it all.
