Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:
- A 36-year-old Keams Canyon man was arrested Thursday on the intersection of South Priest Drive and West Rio Salado Parkway on suspicion of aggravated driving under the influence, according to a police report.
Officers contacted the man after seeing him driving on the bicycle lane and being unable to stay in one lane, police said.
When officers approached the vehicle, they noticed an odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle, the report said.
After the man handed police his driver’s license, officers asked him if he had been drinking since his speech was slurred and he had bloodshot eyes, police said.
The man said he drank two beers, but after getting out of the car he told police he had three 16-ounce beers, according to the report.
The man voluntarily took various field sobriety tests in which officers observed many clues of impairment, police said.
The man submitted to a preliminary breath test that resulted in a breath alcohol content of .169 percent, the report said.
Officers were standing three feet away from the man when they realized the odor coming from the vehicle was coming from his breath, police reported.
An MVD search revealed the man’s license was suspended and revoked, the report said.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he submitted to two other breath tests, police said.
A driver history check revealed two revocations and nine suspensions to the man’s driving privileges, the report said.
The search also revealed two DUI arrests in 2005, police reported.
The man was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
- A 23-year-old woman was arrested Thursday on the 2100 block of East Apache Boulevard on suspicion of having two outstanding warrants and possession of narcotic drugs, according to a police report.
Police had tried to stop the woman the day before, but she had fled in a vehicle that failed to yield, the report said.
Officers contacted the woman in a parking lot and a records search revealed she had two outstanding warrants, police said.
A search of her person revealed a plastic bag containing a black tar-like substance recognized as heroin, the report said.
Officers also found several spoons with heroin residue, syringes, cotton swabs and a prescription narcotic pill in her purse, police reported.
The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail where she was booked and released pending charges, according to the report.
