Tempe Police: Man threatens another man with knife

Tempe Police reported the following incident Wednesday:

  • A 21-year-old Mesa man was arrested Jan. 25 on the 500 block of West University Drive on suspicion of aggravated assault with a dangerous deadly weapon, according to a police report.Police contacted the man after receiving reports that he was threatening another man outside of Boston’s Restaurant and Sports Bar, the report said.

The victim was standing outside the establishment when he saw the man urinating in the bushes outside of the business, police said.

When the victim tried to confront the man about why he was urinating in the bushes, the man pulled out a 6-inch folding knife, the report said.

The man then began to come after the victim, opened the knife and began to utter “f--cking pendejo” as he walked toward the victim, police said.

The victim then told the man that he was calling the police, the report said.

The man then fled the scene and police located him down the street, the report said.

After a post-Miranda search, police recovered the 6-inch folding knife, the report said.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked.
