Tempe Police: Woman uses false ID, has marijuana

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:

A 22-year-old Phoenix woman was arrested Nov. 10 at South Kyrene Road and West Cornell Drive on suspicion of marijuana possession, false reporting to law enforcement and using another person’s driver’s license, according to a police report.

Police contacted the woman during a traffic stop in which she was in the passenger seat of the vehicle, the report said.

The woman gave the officer an Arizona driver’s license that belonged to another person in the vehicle, who was asleep in the rear seat, police reported.

The officer told her it was a crime to present false information to police, but the woman continued to say that the identification belonged to her, police said.

Police reported the woman even presented a credit card with the same name in an effort to confirm the identification.

The woman was asked to get out of the car, and she told the officer they had been coming from the Bikini Lounge nightclub in Phoenix, the report said.

The woman continued to tell officers that the driver’s license she gave them was hers, even though she did not match the license’s description, the officer reported.

The woman allowed officers to search her purse, where they reported finding a small plastic bag with marijuana inside.

The woman denied the marijuana was hers, but said the driver and friend she had been at the nightclub with were both drug users, police reported.

Officers reported she could not give a plausible reason for the marijuana being inside her purse.

The woman was booked into Tempe City Jail and held, the report said.

A 28-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Nov. 9 on the 1600 block of East Broadway Road on suspicion of narcotic drug possession, according to a police report.

Officers contacted the man after he was seen riding a bike at night without a light, the report said.

Police reported the man willingly let officers search the backpack he was wearing.

Inside the side pouch of the backpack an officer reported finding a pill capsule container that contained what appeared to be heroin, according to police.

The man told officers he had purchased the heroin at a fast food restaurant on Rural and Broadway roads for $10, police reported.

He was booked into Tempe City Jail, where he was released pending charges, the report said.
