Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:
- A 43-year-old Tempe man was arrested Nov. 6 on the 1800 block of East Broadway Road on suspicion of forgery, theft and burglary, according to a police report.
An investigation revealed a resident of the apartment complex had placed her rent money in a drop box but was later told her rent had not been paid, according to the report.
The woman contacted the company with whom she purchased the money order and was told the check had been cashed, police reported.
The woman received a copy of the cashed money order and did not know the name of the person that signed and cashed the check, police said.
An Internet search revealed the man who cashed the check was the apartment complex maintenance supervisor, the report said.
Officers found that the man did not have a key to access the management officer where the drop box is located but used his employee code to disarm the alarm, police reported.
Police arrested the man, who told officers he had cashed the money order, according to the report.
He was transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked, the report said.
- A 30-year-old Chandler man was arrested Nov. 7 on the 1900 block of East Apache Boulevard on suspicion of driving with a suspended license, marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.
An officer saw the man driving eastbound on Apache Boulevard at about 50 mph in a 35 mph zone, the report said.
When the officer approached the car, he reported that the man and the two other occupants inside appeared nervous.
A background check revealed the man’s license had been suspended, the report said.
The officer placed the man under arrest for driving with a suspended license, police reported.
The officer said that because the occupants appeared nervous, a K-9 unit was called to sniff the exterior of the car.
The officer found marijuana under the passenger’s seat and the man later told the officer it belonged to him, according to police.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held for the suspended license charge and released pending charges of marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, the report said.
