You Me At Six rocks The Nile Theater on its first US headline

British rockers You Me At Six stormed into Mesa for a packed show at the Nile Theater on Tuesday.

Joined by Conditions, recently reunited Cute Is What We Aim For and local band RadioDriveBy, the quintet wasted no time in putting on a raging show for the excited fans.

Josh Franceschi, lead singer of YMAS, stomped and paraded across the stage as the band rocked through an energetic set list.

“Loverboy” got the crowd jumping as the band mixed new and old songs to keep everyone in the room interested for its longer-than-usual headlining set.

This tour marked the band’s first headlining run in the U.S.; however, Franceschi pointed out that his expectations for Arizona were low. As some shocked fans began to heckle the band, he was quick to add that the Mesa crowd had surpassed all of the Texas dates and made him excited to return to an Arizona stage soon, and to the ecstatic screams of the fans.

All of the girls in the venue went crazy for the band as they continued the evening with a slow ballad section, including the powerful “Crash.”

Franceschi’s impressive vocal power and range were on full display throughout the evening, and the rest of the band backed him in every song.

The fans were clearly happy about the band’s return to the states as they screamed the words to every song, especially the emotional “Stay With Me.” The band closed the sweaty evening with “Underdog” before walking offstage to meet fans.

The openers for the night certainly set a bar for YMAS. Local rockers RadioDriveBy charmed the audience with a familiar set before making way for Conditions.

The vocal duo of Brandon Roundtree and Alex Howard impressed the audience with their crazy harmonies and energy. Their short set was packed with upbeat tunes and plenty of sweat from the band.

Recently reunited pop punkers, Cute Is What We Aim For brought the nostalgic vibe to the the evening. Lead singer Shaant Hacikyan smiled through the set, opening it up by saying, “We’re finally back after a few years of being broken up!”

The band jammed their way through old and new favorites to the delight of the audience.

Overall, the evening was filled with energetic rock music and fans who left the venue very satisfied.
