Between the Grammys, Golden Globes and Oscar awards all taking place within the last few months, the fashion industry has definitely had an abundance of red carpet inspiration. Like I said in my post about the Grammys, sometimes the dresses get more hype than any of the awards. Designers definitely did not fail this time around. They dressed actors and actresses to the nines this year with a super-vintage feel.
After watching the awards on Sunday evening I could not help myself but put together looks inspired by some of my favorite red carpet moments from this year’s Academy Awards. Here is what I came up with. Enjoy!
Naomi Watts’ Vintage Glamour
Naomi showed off her daring side in this sequin cut-out Armani gown. The neckline was edgy, but still had class and vintage feel. She paired the dress with simple diamond jewelry, giving more of an old Hollywood glamour flare. Get this look with the lovers and friends lucky bodycon sequin dress at Urban Outfitters, and pair with a simple pair of crystal earrings like the bejeweled trinity posts from Anthropologie.
Samantha Barks’ Simple and Sexy
Samantha chose to wear an all black Valentino gown. One would think the all-black gown was basic and safe, until you saw the plunging neckline that definitely captured viewers’ attention. To get this look try the shadow play maxi dress from Nasty Gal paired with a long necklace like the long triangle pendant from Topshop.
Charlize Theron’s Sheik and Elegant
Charlize Theron pulled off an all-white Christian Dior gown quite fabulously. The V-neckline and peplum cut made the dress. The pixie cut went well with her open shoulders; she showed simplicity and elegance at their finest. To get this look try the Elle peplum dress from Nasty Gal, paired with simple studded earrings from H&M.
