Sadly, spring break has already come and gone. The weather gets warmer everyday and more and more time is spent poolside, as it should be. As we are on the verge of summer, it makes total sense to talk wearable summer crafts.
One really cool idea comes from Runway DIY, where they feature a fringe bikini top. The entire craft just calls for some fringe, a strapless bikini, a needle and stretchy thread. On the bikini tops and bottoms, all you need to do is sew on the fringe using your needle and stretchy thread. Make sure to really pay attention to what you’re doing as you sew; I tend to be all over the place when I am using a needle and thread and really have to concentrate. You obviously want to do a good job on it so it doesn’t look bad. However, you are creating fringe tops and bottoms so it’ll be hard to see where exactly you sewed because the fringe will be covering it. This bikini then gives a cool, retro look for when you’re trying to get your tan on at the pool.
You can also create a similar look with flip-flops. Instead of using fringe, you can go to a craft store and look for fun, summer flowers to sew on to your shoes. You could also do this on a bikini top, which would look very cute and beach-themed. Keep both the flower and fringe ideas in mind when you begin to look for the perfect summer beach/pool bag and want to add a little something extra to it.
Besides using the fringe on bikinis, if you have a plain bikini and want to add something to it, try buying some fabric paint. You could create a really cool, perhaps abstract, design using paint. It would also be completely one-of-a-kind, since no one likes to have the same Target bathing suit as everyone else.
