With the semester nearing an end, it’s time to start preparing for new shows airing at the beginning of the New Year. With that said, I am particularly excited for the return of Eastbound and Down. After EBD left us with the huge news that April was pregnant with Kenny’s baby, I couldn’t wait for the next season to see if he stays inShelby,North Carolina, or takes the baseball job in Myrtle Beach.
HBO released a teaser trailer that seems to answer all my questions. The trailer shows about 30 seconds of the boardwalk of Myrtle Beach, complete with some random girl getting Kenny’s face airbrushed on her shirt.
However, EBD had to endure quite the challenges while filming the third season. In mid-September and August, filming had to be delayed because of Hurricane Irene, and also during which Danny McBride (Kenny Powers) welcomed the birth of his new son. Filming is set to resume at the beginning of November.
If you’re like me and can’t get enough of Kenny Powers, an extra on the set leaked this video, saying, “I [was] casted as an extra on the show and shot this. It seems April has the baby and comes toMyrtle Beach with Kenny.”
As if this isn’t big enough news, there will also be a special recurring role in the third season filled by none other than SNL’s Jason Sudeikis. His character is described as “a new friend of ex-MLB pitcher Powers…Shane is described as a gullible and enthusiastic baseball player.” It sounds like Stevie has some competition for Kenny’s love.
In addition to Sudeikis, it is also confirmed that we’ll be seeing Matthew McConaughey in his role as a scout fromTexaswho is helping Kenny on his way back to the big leagues. Also returning is Will Ferrell in his role as used-BMW car salesman Ashley Schaeffer.
So what can we look forward to in the third season? Fan site Kennypowersfanclub.com says there are still three vital questions that need to be answered. “Will Kenny Powers…finally make his major league baseball comeback? Has Kenny Powers really learned from the mistakes of Eduardo Sanchez and try to help April raise their child? Do Kenny Powers and April Buchanan get back together?”
