Broke's the New Black: Phoenix Fashion Week Finale

If Phoenix Fashion Week impressed its visitors Thursday night, it was no comparison to Saturday’s finale. The last runway show of the event couldn’t have ended the week any better. Between the Established and Emerging Designer runway shows, the entire audience was on their feet clapping.

The Established Designers runway show featured Stop Staring (still in love with that brand name), Joy Li, Mariska, and two of my favorites from the whole week Michelle Jonas, and Blaque Label.

From menswear to pin-up old Hollywood inspired pencil skirts, the night had a little bit of everything. Michelle Jonas’ long flowing backless dresses and sheer caftans had the audience doing a double take as the girls walked the runway.  From my own shopping endeavors, I’ve found Michelle Jonas to be a beautiful line made of fine fabrics that lie beautifully and by its gathering into various keyholes and other cutouts, it is flattering on most. The problem is that until we’re on salary and off our ramen diet, it may be out of our price range (usually reaching $200-$300 a piece).

Blaque Label is a contemporary line already hitting it hard in the celebrity community. The collection was filled with seductively sheer shirts, blouses, and sequin dresses.  Already worn by the Kardashians, Naomi Watts, and Giuliana Rancic of E! News, this line is one that seems to be amazing more than people in just Phoenix.

Although we live in such a large shopping community, Phoenix Fashion Week was smaller in size than I had expected, but still managed a decent turnout.  Saturday night was much busier than Thursday as the runway shows were sold out and had standing room only. It is relieving to see a population congregate that all have one thing in common- fashion.
