I’ll have to admit, I usually don’t go for mystery-type shows with no sense of humor. However, “Ringer” is CW’s new fall show with more than a little mystery up its sleeve. If you’re not aware, “Ringer” is about a character named Bridgett, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who is on the run from the cops and meets up with her twin sister who she hasn’t seen in six years. On a midday boat ride, Bridgett falls asleep and wakes up to find that her sister is no where to be found. Therefore, Bridgett only sees one way out—to live her sister’s life.
Her sister has a few skeletons of her own as well. Not only is she having an affair with her best friend’s husband, but she is also four weeks pregnant, and was set up to be brutally killed in her new apartment.
I must admit: the show doesn’t get interesting until at least halfway through. Not to mention that, but also, there are scenes (ahem, the boat) where a green screen is painfully obvious. After I got past that slight annoyance, I actually kind of liked the plot. The fact that the sister is actually alive at the end of the episode adds an extra “who dunnit?” factor that I really enjoy.
From what I’ve seen, a lot of people are hyped about this show—it’s been blowing up my Tumblr with posts like this. However, Mackenzie’s rating, on a scale of one to holy-pantyhose-awesome, I give it a “meh”. I can’t always do good reviews, even though I am obsessed with everything about television!
