Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:
- A 23-year-old Phoenix man was arrested on the corner of South Priest Drive and La Jolla Drive in the early morning on June 13 for reckless discharge of a firearm at a complex along La Jolla Drive, police reported.
A witness saw the man get into a fight with some people at the pool and was then seen grabbing an assault rifle from his BMW SUV, according to a police report.
The man then held the gun toward the men he was fighting with and started yelling that he could take them all on, police reported.
Three women tried to calm the man down while the other men fled the scene, according to a report.
The witness then saw the man walking with the three women out of the complex, which was when a gunshot was heard coming from their location, police reported.
The three women then ran back to the SUV with the man, which was stopped just outside the complex by police, according to a report.
The gun was recovered in the back seat of the SUV and he admitted to firing off the gun into the dirt, police reported.
It was found that the man had previously been arrested for aggravated assault of a police officer and was placed on probation, according to a report.
He was held to see a judge on one count of prohibited possession of a firearm and one count reckless discharge of a firearm, police reported.
- A 20-year-old Chandler man was arrested early in the morning on June 12 on the 5000 block of South Priest Drive on suspicion of minor in consumption and later aggravated assault of a police officer, police reported.
The man was contacted in his room, which was suspected to have underage marijuana users in it, according to a police report.
He admitted to drinking five beers and was placed in the back of a Tempe Police vehicle, at which point he began spitting at the officer, police reported.
When the man realized he couldn’t spit on the officer because of the divider between the front and back seat, he unzipped his pants and urinated in the vehicle, according to a report.
He began threatening the officer and said he was going to torture the officer and his wife and children, and also find where the officer lives and kill his family, police reported.
The man was then removed from the vehicle and placed against a wall, at which point he turned to the officer and spit in his face, according to a report.
He was then taken to the ground and held there until detention officers could transport him into the jail, police reported.
He was held on one count of aggravated assault of law enforcement, one count minor in consumption and one count of criminal damage, according to a report.
