The end of classes means one thing—finals. This time around, fuel your brain with these five foods that will keep your mind in tip-top shape. Along with plenty of sleep (avoid the all-night cramming) and hydration from H2O, these foods will help you be prepared to pass your finals with flying colors.

Blueberries

BBCGoodFood.com’s article “10 things to boost your brainpower” said that this fruit works wonders for your brain. “Research from Tufts University in the United States and published in the Journal of Neuroscience suggests that blueberry extract can improve short-term memory loss.” Toss these berries in a bowl of cereal or in a yogurt parfait, your body will be loaded with antioxidants and ready to focus during your tests.

Whole Grain

This is a super easy food to add to your finals week menu. You can find wholegrain in cereals, bread and whole-wheat pasta. BCGoodFood.com’s article said, “One study found that women who increased their folic acid, vitamin B12 and vitamin B6 intake showed an improvement in recalling information compared to women who were not taking a supplement.” Plus, it’s a great excuse to load up on some carbs!

Nuts

Snack on pumpkin seeds, almonds, peanuts, or cashews in between meals or when you need a little crunch to calm your nervous jitters. BCGoodFood.com’s article said, “Just a handful a day is all you need to get your recommended daily amount of zinc, vital for enhancing memory and thinking skills.”

Oatmeal

Sara Ost’s article on EcoSalon.com recommended oatmeal among the 20 foods that will supercharge your brain. Start your day off with this breakfast which Ost’s said is “packed with fiber, a reasonable amount of protein, and even a small amount of Omega-3?s.” This meal will keep you full and ready to power through a long, mentally exhausting exam.

Eggs

Ost said, “Eggs contain protein and fat to provide energy to your brain for hours, and the selenium in organic eggs is proven to help your mood.” Who can argue with this? Dish up some scrambled eggs from the dining hall or make a microwave breakfast burrito. After this breakfast of champions, you will feel invincible and ready to tackle your test.
