Tempe Police reported the following incidents Thursday:

  • A 20-year-old Tempe man was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and shoplifting at the 3000 block of South Rural Road in Tempe at approximately 8:03 p.m. Sunday, according to a police report.

    The man was at Walmart on the 800 block of East Southern Avenue in Tempe, where he was seen putting a stereo worth $200 into a shopping cart, and attempted to leave the store without making any attempts to pay, police reported.

    He was contacted by loss prevention employees at the doors and fled the scene, according to the report.

    Police found him in a nearby alley and attempted to detain him, but he struggled and broke free, police reported.

    The man fled east and jumped over a wall into a parking lot, according to the report.

    Police eventually were able to tase him and detain him without further incident, police reported.

    The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held, according to the report.

  • A 37-year-old Tempe man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault of an officer and disorderly conduct at the 500 block of South Mill Avenue in Tempe at approximately 1:31 a.m. Saturday, according to a police report.

    An investigation revealed he was attempting to fight random people by cursing at them and pushing them inside of Blondies Sports Bar, police reported.

    When police arrived, the man was being restrained on the ground by two women who were trying to stop him from pushing people, according to the report.

    The man was screaming profanities at everyone within the immediate vicinity, police reported.

    He smelled strongly of alcohol and had slurred speech, according to the report.

    While being escorted into a police van, the man yelled, “I am not getting in that van,” and kicked an officer in the shin, police reported.

    He was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held, according to the report.

  • A 26-year-old Chicago man was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, urinating in public, failure to ID and trespassing at the 500 block of South Mill Avenue at approximately 1:43 a.m. Friday, according to a police report.

    Police saw the man urinating in public and upon approaching him, he refused to provide an ID and fled, police reported.

    The man ignored commands to stop and climbed through the rear patio railing of Crave Cafe & Lounge, proceeding to run through the bar, according to the report.

    Police caught up to the man in front of the bar, searched him and found a plastic bag with a usable quantity of marijuana and a glass pipe with residue in his pants pocket, police reported.

    He was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held, according to the report.
