ASU senior Kelcy McKenna was named the Pac-10 Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for April 10 to 17.
This is the third time that McKenna has received this award.
She was honored for her outstanding performance against No. 1 Maria Sanchez from USC in the Sun Devils’ match against the Trojans on April 8. Sanchez defeated McKenna in an earlier match on March 16, taking a 6-0, 6-3 victory, but McKenna didn’t let that happen again as she took Friday’s match to three sets before knocking off the country’s top-ranked player (6-4, 1-6, 6-4).
Then, in Saturday’s match against UCLA McKenna defeated No. 58 McCall Jones (6-2, 5-7, 6-2) for the weekend sweep.
It was one of two singles matches ASU won against UCLA.
