With all of this icy cold wind Arizona is experiencing recently, many of you may be wondering if spring is ever going to arrive. You may want to hold off on the spring-like floral dresses, however, the weather shouldn’t stop you from at least expressing spring through nail polish. This year’s spring nail polish colors are classier and trendier than ever. I have narrowed down six colors for your spring 2011 nail polish collection.
This year the pastel colors are still in, however, they are even more creamy and smooth than usual. Colors such as purples, bright blues, and creamsickle peachy pinks are definite popular shades. The nudes, and bold and bright lacquers are also a must.
I am first going to start with the popular nude color. The naked-nude nail gives off a fresh, yet natural look. Now, just because you have pink nails does not mean that you have to match your outfit to your nails, but in some way, nail color can clash. Nude nail polish is timely and always gives that classic look. It is also important to find nude polish that has high-gloss, so that you don’t end up having mannequin looking hands. The two recommended brands and colors for the nude shade are Deborah Lippmann in Naked ($16) and Essie in Sand Tropez ($8).
Next on my list is the Tiffany’s Box blue color. This pale blue shade is the ultimate spring color. When I think of spring, I always picture soft pastel blues, yellows, and pinks, and this baby blue color is definitely among this color pallet. The blue is also very versatile and can go with almost everything. Two colors that I recommend for you are Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen in Barracuda ($6.99), and Priti NYC in Forget Me Not ($12.50).
The peachy-pink is always a must spring color. The peachy color gives a nude feel, but still gives that little bit of color that doesn’t match your skin completely. I especially love the peachy-pink shade because it allows me to wear a pale, nude-like color without washing out my fair skin. The color also looks great on darker skin tones as well, giving that extra bit of glow. Dior makes a great peachy-pink color called Pink Boa ($21) and Priti NYC also makes a similar great color called September Charm ($12.50).
Number four on my list is one of my favorite nail polish colors. The lavender dusty purple color. The lavender color is great because it works for both the day and night time. Purple can be lightened up for a daytime lunch or it can be darkened for a night out on the town. Lavender also works with any skin tone. Whether you are black, white, tan, pale, pink, red, orange, lavender will work your skin tone. I recommend trying Estee Lauder’s Violet Diva ($19) or Priti NYC’s Geisha Girl ($12.50).
For the next color, I am going for the futuristic look. Metallic grays believe it or not are a definite must for spring nail polish colors. Metallic colors can definitely be worn during the daytime, however these colors are great for the evening. The metallic colors have that bit of shimmer while still being somewhat subtle and simple. Try Chanel’s Black Pearl polish ($25) or M.A.C. Very Important Platinum ($13)
I saved the best for last. The last nail polish on the list is not exactly a color, but a fancy topcoat. These topcoats are not your everyday simple, clear topcoats. One gives your nail polish a cracked finished look, another one adds a holographic shimmer, and the last one adds a golden layer of nude shimmer. To achieve these looks I recommend Chanel Pearl Drop($25), CND Copper Shimmer ($9), CND Perfectly Barely Shimmer ($20), and OPI Topcoat in Shatter ($8.50).
There is never such thing as having too much nail polish. Be daring this spring and experiment with colors and shades and ever unique topcoats that you never thought were possible.
