Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:
- A 23-year-old transient woman was arrested around 6 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of shoplifting, aggravated assault on a police officer, attempted escape and misdemeanor assault on a loss prevention officer, police reported.The woman was contacted on the 900 block of East Broadway Road in Tempe, where she was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting, according to a police report.
While police attempted to escort her to a patrol car, she began to pull away from an officer, and attempted to swing her arms back and forth to hit the officer in the face, police reported.
After police took her to the ground, she scratched the back of the same officer’s head and neck, according to a report.
The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
The woman was already on probation for possession of a dangerous drug, according to a report.
- A 47-year-old Phoenix man was arrested around 5 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of presenting a forged instrument, possessing a forged instrument and possessing stolen property, police reported.A police investigation revealed the man was in possession of a stolen personal check, which had been forged and written to him in the amount of $350, according to a police report.
The man then attempted to cash it at a Wells Fargo bank on the 60 block of East Broadway Road in Tempe, police reported.
The man was booked into Tempe City Jail, according to a report.
- A 27-year-old Gilbert man was arrested around 6 a.m. Tuesday on suspicion of possession of marijuana, being in possession of drug paraphernalia, being in possession of a prescription-only drug and possessing stolen property, police reported.The man was contacted on a suspicious person complaint on the 1600 block of East Carmen Street in Tempe, according to a police report.
Police confirmed an outstanding Maricopa County warrant for two charges of theft of a credit card, police reported.
A search incident to arrest revealed possession of a stolen laptop computer, Percocet pills, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to a report.
The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released pending the charges, but held on the warrant, police reported.
