How ready will the Badgers be? Well, their team website has a countdown ticking down the days, hours, minutes and seconds till the kickoff against our Sun Devils.
The Sun Devils had better be ready if they hope to escape embarrassment in Madison and on national television.
One thing that the Devils must cut back on is penalties. We saw a lot of them in the first two games of the season against Portland State and NAU. While ASU still dominated Portland State, the penalties against NAU allowed the Lumberjacks to stay in the game. This made it look like the win could go to either team throughout the game.
There has been a lot of talk about Wisconsin’s big offensive line. They have allowed a total of two sacks in their first two games of the season against UNLV and San Jose State University. ASU’s defense will have to use their speed to get around the big badger wall to make the quarterback uncomfortable. Expect Devils sophomore Vontaze Burfict to try and shine on the national stage. He will likely hit harder and play even more aggressive than his usual self, hopefully inspiring the rest of our defensive team along the way.
If the Badgers had one thing in common with the Devils last week, it’s that they picked up a sloppy win at home against a less than stellar team. Wisconsin, ranked as the number 11 team nationally, slid by with a 27-14 win against their opponent from the Western Athletic Conference. This should provide hope to the Devils. It shows that the Badgers aren’t exactly perfect at home. But after that lackluster performance, you can be sure that the Badgers will be extra motivated to please their home fans in this game. Let’s hope ASU is even more motivated to pull off a huge upset victory on the road.
I’m Jose Zavala, and I’m here to tell the untold stories of ASU sports teams, clubs and athletes. Did you know ASU has a bowling club? Did you know we have both a fencing and curling club? While I’ve played and been a fan of baseball, basketball and football, I’ve always been drawn to stories about athletes and teams that receive little media coverage, yet still put in a tremendous amount of work in the pursuit of greatness.
