ASU sophomore running back Ryan Bass was suspended indefinitely by football coach Dennis Erickson Sunday for violating a team rule.
Bass is the Sun Devils’ third-leading rusher with 173 yards but has received just 29 carries this season while being passed on the depth chart by freshman Cameron Marshall. He did not play in ASU’s 14-9 loss to USC on Saturday night.
Marshall and senior Dimitri Nance, who has been the starter for the majority of the season before a shoulder injury led to Marshall’s first career start against USC, will remain at the top of the running back rotation, while seniors Shaun DeWitty and Jarrell Woods could also see more playing time in Bass’ absence.
