Students of the Graduate and Professional Student Association and the Undergraduate Student Government voted to amend the Associated Students of Arizona State University constitution on Wednesday to allow graduate students on all ASU campuses to be members of the GPSA.
Justin Boren, president of the GPSA, said 671 students voted on the amendment. Of the 504 graduate students, Boren said about 92 percent voted for the amendment.
“That’s a very big statement that we want to be one unified graduate student government,” Boren said.
The amendment gives all graduate students access to GPSA programs, awards and grants, and gives the GPSA more power in negotiations with the University by allowing it to represent more students, he said.
“One unified voice is more powerful than four fractured voices,” Boren said.
