Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:

  • A 49-year-old Tempe man was arrested late Thursday night on the 1200 block of West University Drive on suspicion of aggravated assault, police reported.

    Investigation revealed the man reportedly forcefully grabbed the arm of a police officer, twisted it and then pushed the officer, according to a police report.

    The man was transported to Tempe City Jail on one count of aggravated assault, police reported.

  • A 30-year-old transient man was arrested Thursday night on the 1000 block of South Longmore Street in Mesa on suspicion of aggravated assault and criminal trespassing, police reported.

    On Oct. 3 the man reportedly engaged in a physical altercation on the 1400 block of South Bonarden Lane when he pulled out a 6- to 7-inch knife on a man and cut him on the left side of his face, according to the police report.

    The laceration, about six inches in length, extended from the man’s eyebrow to his ear, police reported.

    When the victim attempted to call police, the man grabbed the cell phone and pushed the victim to the ground before fleeing on foot, according to the report.

    The man ran to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and kicked in the door, according to the report.

    He then cleaned his hands and removed his shirt before fleeing the area, police reported.

    The man was transported to Tempe City Jail on one count of aggravated assault, one count of robbery, one count of criminal trespassing, one count of disorderly conduct and for two outstanding warrants, according to a report.

  • A 25-year-old Peoria man was arrested Thursday night on the 1700 block of East Apache Boulevard on suspicion of driving under the influence and endangerment, police reported.

    The man was observed exiting a liquor store parking lot at a high speed and making a wide turn on to Apache Boulevard, according to the police report.

    The vehicle did not yield after an officer turned on emergency lights, and the man fled through a Pep Boys parking lot nearly hitting a pedestrian, police reported.

    The car then collided with a curb and the occupants fled on foot, according to a report.

    The man was detained by force about 60 yards from the vehicle, police reported.

    Police found a Loaded magazine in the driver’s seat, a 9 mm handgun and an AK-47 assault rifle inside the vehicle, according to the report.

    A search revealed the man was a convicted felon and was recently released from a three-year sentence in prison, police reported.

    He admitted to drinking alcohol and his license was revoked, according to the report.

    The man was held on one count of endangerment, misconduct involving weapons, aggravated DUI and having an open alcohol container in the vehicle, police reported.

  • A 29-year-old Gilbert man was arrested Thursday afternoon on the 300 block of West Birchwood Avenue in Mesa on suspicion of firing a weapon near the U.S. 60 and Mill Avenue, police reported.

    The man admitted to firing a gun out his passenger window into a dirt pile on the side of the road, according to the police report.

    He was reportedly driving the vehicle at the time and told police he was trying to “clear the weapon,” police reported.

    The man said his cousin had told him the weapon was unloaded and that he wanted to make sure it was unloaded, according to the report.

    He said that he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and believes he was having a flashback, police reported.

    He also said he did not intend to fire the gun and had no intention of hurting anyone, according to a report.

    He was also found to be driving under the influence, police reported.

    The man was held to see a judge on one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm, according to the report.
