Police Beat


ASU Police reported the following incident Tuesday:

  • Between 2 a.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, an unknown person or persons committed third-degree burglary from a vehicle, police reported.

    The vehicle was parked outside Cholla Residential Hall on the Tempe campus, according to the report.

    The suspect or suspects broke into the vehicle and took three compact discs, a pair of sunglasses, a dress shirt and a bottle of cologne, police reported.

    The total estimated value of the items is $100, according to the police report.

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

  • A 31-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of first-degree trespassing, misdemeanor assault and criminal damage, police reported.

    The man punched out an apartment window on the 200 block of W. Hermosa Drive at about 10:30 p.m. and pushed the victim and victim’s son out of his way, according to a police report.

    Once inside, the man began swearing at the family, including a 4-year-old girl, and made threats to kill the family if they called the police, according to the report.

    The man was booked in Tempe City Jail on Monday and held to see a judge, police reported.

  • A 19-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of marijuana possession, police reported.

    The woman was stopped for driving with an expired registration and failure to stop before a sidewalk at about 1:30 a.m. at the corner of West Baseline Road and South 48th Street in Tempe, according to a police report.

    Upon first contact with the vehicle, a distinct odor of marijuana was noticeable from inside, police reported. A search revealed a usable quantity of marijuana in the vehicle’s center console, according to the report.

    A search of the woman revealed another usable quantity of marijuana inside her bra, police reported.

    The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and released, according to the police report.

  • A 44-year-old man was arrested in connection with two outstanding warrants Sunday, police reported.

    The man was contacted as a passenger during a vehicle stop at on the 10 block of west Southern Road in Tempe when a records check showed he had two outstanding warrants, according to a police report.

    The man was placed under arrest at about 11:30 p.m., then searched by police, according to the report.

    A usable quantity of marijuana and rolling papers for marijuana cigarettes were found on the man, and a second bag of marijuana was observed in plain view inside the vehicle, police reported.

    The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, booked for the warrants Monday, with release pending for the drug charges, according to the police report.
