The ASU volleyball team is beginning to show the signs of improvement that coach Jason Watson has been waiting for all season.
“We are getting much better,” Watson said. “We are competing very well and although the results still aren’t what we would like, this program is going the right direction.”
The Sun Devils (12-13, 3-9 Pac-10) have shown dramatic improvement over the past two weeks in Pac-10 Conference play. They swept rival UA on Nov. 2 before challenging powerhouses No. 2 Stanford and No. 7 Cal last weekend.
All three opponents easily swept the Sun Devils in their first matchups this year.
This weekend, ASU will look to continue its recent success, as it travels to Southern California to take on No. 10 USC (14-8, 7-6 Pac-10) and No. 9 UCLA (16-8, 6-7 Pac-10).
“I hope we can compete well and rally there in Los Angeles,” Watson said. “We want to continue with our improvement. I hope we can close this weekend off on a positive note.”
In their last meetings in October, the Sun Devils were able to steal a game from the Trojans before being swept by the Bruins.
