Police Beat: Two ASU students arrested on suspicion of trespassing

ASU Police reported the following incidents Monday:

  • A 21-year-old male ASU student and a 22-year-old female ASU student were arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of trespassing at the ASU Aquatics Center, police reported.

Another man was also arrested and was not fully identified in the report.

Three ASU Police officers responded to a report of people swimming inside the pool at the center, located on the 600 block of South College Avenue, and found two male suspects in their underpants, according to the police report.

Police also found a female subject in a dress, police reported.

One male subject told police that he climbed a wall and opened a gate to the pool to allow the other two to enter, according to the police report.

At about 2:46 a.m., the officer told the three subjects they were being arrested for trespassing, since the complex had no trespassing signs posted, police reported.

They were each issued a citation for trespassing and released.

  • A 31-year-old Tempe man was arrested Monday afternoon at the Memorial Union on suspicion of trespassing, police reported.

Police escorted the man in handcuffs out of the MU basement, according to the police report.

Police had attempted to contact the man to get his identification when the man began to make statements that were nonsensical, police reported. According to the police report, officers had warned the man for trespassing on three occasions since October.

The man could not give his name and appeared to have a mental disorder, police reported.

Police identified the man after he gave officers his social security number, according to the police report.

The man was placed under arrest for second-degree criminal trespassing, cited and released.

  • A 33-year-old Scottsdale man was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of driving on a suspended license while at Parking Structure 3 on the 900 block of South Myrtle Drive, police reported.

Police observed the car with an Arizona license plate displaying registration tabs that expired in September 2006 and conducted a registration check on the vehicle, which found that the registration was expired, according to the police report.

Police then conducted a traffic stop and found the man did not have a driver's license, police reported.

The man also did not have registration or insurance, according to the police report.

Police told the man that his vehicle would be impounded and asked if he wanted to remove his property from the vehicle, police reported.

The man removed his personal property and his vehicle was impounded, according to the police report.

The man was arrested, cited and released at the scene.
