Police Beat: Tempe man arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and assault


Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:

  • A 25-year-old Tempe man was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of possession of marijuana and assault at his apartment in the 100 block of East Broadway Road, police reported.

    According to the police report, police responded to a call of domestic violence and were investigating the incident when a neighbor reported the man had thrown a bag of marijuana from the balcony.

    The domestic violence investigation showed the victim was grabbed by the throat and thrown to the ground, resulting in a raised abrasion on the side of her head and red marks on her neck, police reported.

    The man was held at Tempe Jail to see a judge and released pending the marijuana charges, according to the police report.

  • A 27-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Thursday night at Scottsdale and McKellips roads on suspicion of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and for an outstanding warrant, police reported.

    Police stopped the man for traffic violations and found that he was driving under the influence of alcohol with an outstanding warrant, according to the police report.

    A search revealed a green, leafy substance in his front right pocket, which police believed to be marijuana, they reported.

    The man was cited for DUI, booked and released pending drug charges and held on the warrant, according to the police report.

  • A 22-year-old transient man was arrested Thursday night on the 9000 block of North 25th Avenue in Phoenix after police linked him to an armed robbery, police reported.

    According to police reports, the man walked into a Circle K convenience store at University and Priest drives on March 23, showed a handgun to the clerk, demanded cigarettes and money, then fled.

    After his arrest, the man was transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked and held, police reported.

  • A 38-year-old transient woman was arrested Thursday night on the 1000 block of South McClintock Drive on suspicion of possession of dangerous and narcotic drugs for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant for trespassing, police reported.

    Police stopped the woman while she was driving. A search revealed the drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to the police report.

    She was booked and held at Tempe City Jail, police reported.
