Tofu is so punk, it's Post Punk

For many vegetarians and vegans just starting out on the path to no-meat-eatingness, salads, pasta and PB&J sandwiches are diet staples. However, they also get old quickly. So, the Post Punk Kitchen Web site, theppk.com, steps in to save the newly vegan soul from a wonderfully guilty McDonalds bingefest.

Theppk.com is the e-brainchild of vegans and cookbook authors Isa Markowitz and Terry Romero. Together, they authored multiple vegan cookbooks. As such, the PPK Web site is the best resource on the Internet for hungry vegetarians, vegans and daring meat-eaters alike (although, how daring is disputable when there's a recipe for tiramisu cupcakes).

The PPK Web site features more than 225 recipes, with even more fan contributions in the forums. Also in the forums: "food porn." Forum members make vegan recipes and take high-quality, commercial-looking pictures of food for others to revel in. Thankfully, that's as dirty as it gets.

Markowitz and Romero also blog and post episodes of the Post Punk Kitchen, a show which shares the name of the Web site from their New York City apartments.

There is no better resource for new and veteran veg-heads on the Internet. The Vegan Chef (veganchef.com) is bare-bones in appearance and content. FoodFight! (store.foodfightgrocery.com) is a good place to buy specialty items, but then so is Whole Foods. The PPK provides a great-looking site, recipes and a sense of community in a world where burgers reign supreme.
