A 25-year-old Tempe woman was assaulted on the 800 block of North College Avenue early Tuesday, according to Tempe police.
The woman was returning to her apartment at about 2:20 a.m. when an adult male grabbed the woman's hair from behind, according to police.The woman recalled being on the ground and the man reaching around in front of her. The man didn't attempt to do anything else.
The woman was able to get off the ground and run to her apartment without injury, according to police.
The man is described as a white male in his mid 30's, wearing white tennis shoes. He had a strong combined scent of cologne and body odor, according to the release.
Tempe police don't know whether this incident is related to a Sept. 11 sexual assault involving a 19-year-old ASU student that occurred on the 600 block of East Mesquite Circle.
The two locations are approximately less than 500 feet from one another, estimating the two blocks.
