While it might not be the most authentic Mexican food in Tempe, even the most discriminating critics will agree that Serrano's Mexican food is delicious. Plus, it's safe to drink the water.

Serrano's can't compare to Filiberto's hours, but the restaurant far surpasses drive-through quality. The casual Mexican restaurant makes dining comfortable with quick service.

Endless chips, salsa and bean dip leave the customer full before dinner ever arrives, but you'll eat it anyway - and eat it all. We're convinced that there must be something in the bean dip that makes it impossible to stop eating, even after the entrees have come and gone.

Serrano's serves amazing Machaca -- shredded beef or chicken with chili, tomatoes and onions - which can be used in burros, enchiladas and chimichangas. The sizzling fajitas are especially flavorful.

Serrano's opened its first restaurant in 1979 in downtown Chandler and has since expanded Valley-wide. Three locations in Mesa and others in Queen Creek, Gilbert and Tempe make Serrano's one of the most accessible Mexican restaurants in the Valley, while somehow remaining relatively unknown.
