Though the ASU women's basketball team will be tipping off in Greensboro, N.C. today, students can still watch the historic Elite Eight game in a March Madness atmosphere.
The University announced Saturday the doors to Wells Fargo would open at 3:30 p.m. for a basketball viewing party.
"We want all Sun Devil fans, especially the ASU student body, to share in our excitement and enthusiasm," said ASU Vice President of Athletics Lisa Love. "We have opened up Wells Fargo Arena so that everyone can enjoy the game with us."
Undeclared freshman Ashley Evans said she thinks a viewing party will help contribute to the growing excitement.
"I bet there'd be a lot of energy," Evans said. "It'd be really cool to have all those people together."
Opening up the area is a "sweet" idea, agreed accounting sophomore Kris Kuchler.
"I think [Women's hoops] are doing phenomenal," Kuchler said. "Last game they looked as strong as they did all season.
Journalism sophomore Zack Jones said he'll probably watch the game - from the comfort of home.
So far, Jones said, ASU has been lucky.
"I didn't necessarily expect Elite Eight," he said. "The teams that we're playing are the teams that have pulled upsets, so we've had kind of an easy ride."
For students like Jones, who don't plan to cram into Wells Fargo Arena, game coverage can also be found on ESPN or KMVP 860 AM.
