Top 5: Worst ASU moments of 2006


1. Former USG president in jail

Yaser Alamoodi is awaiting deportation after his former wife - a U.S. citizen - revoked his petition for U.S. residency.



2. Money stolen from the Arizona Students' Association

Maceo Brown, former director of ASA, pleaded guilty on Oct. 5 to forgery and stealing about $149,000 from the group over almost three years.



3. Firing of Dirk Koetter

After posting a 2-19 winning record against top-25 ranked teams, Dirk Koetter was fired on Nov. 26.



4. Downtown lack of social life

While ASU students at the new Downtown campus enjoyed well-equipped facilities, the lack of nightlife brought them back to Tempe to have some fun.



5. Lucky No. 7

After ASU President Crow proposed a 7 percent tuition increase, the Arizona Board of Regents reduced the hike to 5 percent in December -still a lot for many students to pay.
