Do: Wear Corduroy
The velvet-like lines of this suede-soft fabric look fantastic in almost every form - pants, skirts and blazers. Corduroy looks great on both men and women and is being produced for both sexes in all styles this season. Try this fabric in jewel-toned colors like forest green, royal purple and rich burgundy, or go for the standard khaki. Just please don't wear a corduroy shirt, or a blazer and pants paired together - that's taking this trend too far.

Do: Wear heavy sweaters
Thick cords and argyle prints might remind you of old-man sweaters, but comfort means style this season. Guys look great in black, charcoal gray and brown styles, but should be careful not to attempt to pull off crazy patterns or colorful prints. Girls with long, skinny torsos look great in longer sweaters; and whether its cotton or cashmere, plunging necklines with a camisole underneath adds a touch of class.

Do Not: Wear your belt too high
The wide belt cinched at the waist is a popular look this season, but the key is not to take this style overboard by tying your belt tight under your boobs. Thick, brightly colored belts, especially red ones, can be flattering if worn right, but wear them too high and you'll just shorten your torso and make your tummy look bigger. And by the way, there's nothing wrong with wearing belts the traditional way - around your waist and through your jeans' belt loops.

Do Not: Wear Uggs
Please girls, we beg you. Do not, under any circumstances, wear Ugg boots this fall. Take them on your next ski trip if you need snowshoes. Or even better, donate them to a homeless shelter so that people who actually get cold in the winter can take advantage of the boots' insulation. Because when you wear them with your miniskirt and tank top, it's obvious that you're already nice and toasty.
